OLDE TOWN PEDESTRIAN MALL
Arvada, Colorado
StudioCPG collaborated with the City of Arvada to transform three blocks of the Olde Town district into a vibrant and inviting Pedestrian Mall.
The removal of the 13th Street pedestrian bridge connecting the Denver Center for the Performing Arts with its main parking structure opened possibilities to tie the urban fabric together at street level. StudioCPG worked with traffic engineers and architects to create a safe and gracious connection through what had been the back door of several auditoriums. The area functions as an alley, with theater loading and trash service coexisting with what is now a main pedestrian connection to the theaters and an active plaza. Improvements include a refined paving pattern, site furnishings, plantings and pedestrian lighting. Our work also included a series of illustrative perspectives to communicate project expectations.
