Durango Wastewater Treatment Plant

Durango, Colorado

The City of Durango, Colorado sought to increase the capacity of their Wastewater Treatment Plan to 3.28 million gallons per day (MGD) and 7,825 pounds per day of BOD5 with expanded buildout capacity of 4.04 million gallons per day (MGD) and 9,606 pounds per day of BOD5. StudioCPG, working under Dewberry, provided site selection assistance for new administration/shop/operator’s lab building as well as site integration and connectivity to Animas River Trail and the highly used and cherished Santa Rita Park.

StudioCPG’s provided site analysis, conceptual design, design development including site selection, construction documents, bidding and construction. The following items were included in StudioCPG’s scope of work:

Conceptual grading, paving, storm water control, utility location, and irrigation.

Integration of structures and aeration basin walls into landscape to address sightlines along the length of the aeration basins.

Design of stormwater and drainage facilities.

Landscape architecture

for the nine acre site, including water quality ponds, entry plaza with native vegetation, rain garden, and site improvements to mitigate impact of plant along Highway 160/South Camino del Rio
