First Creek Restoration Project

Denver, Colorado

StudioCPG is providing landscape architectural services in support of a series of restoration projects along the First Creek corridor upstream of Peña Boulevard as it connects I-70 to Denver International Airport.

The projects will allow continuing development along the corridor including the construction of RTD’s rail service to the airport and a regional trail connecting Green Valley Ranch to US fish and Wildlife’s  Rocky Mountain Arsenal refuge.  StudioCPG’s roles in the projects include trail design, design for landscape restoration and preparation of visual simulations illustrating alternatives in design approach.

First Creek

First Creek Reconstruction is nearing completion. Working with Urban Drainage and Icon Engineering, StudioCPG has realigned the creek as a broad, shallow channel that contains a 100-year flood. First Creek had been pushed to the edge of a quarter section field to create useful agricultural land. The restoration returns the creek to its natural alignment and will reduce chronic flooding in this rapidly developing corridor.
