StudioCPG collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team to create the Complete Streets Design Guidelines for the City and County of Denver. Complete Streets consider the uses and activities along the street edge in balance with travel demands. They require a paradigm shift: moving forward, Denver will approach street design from the outside in. Complete Streets consider the uses and activities along the street edge in balance with travel demands.
The Complete Streets approach gives people walking, rolling, bicycling, taking transit, and scooting the same access to safe and comfortable streets as those driving a motor vehicle by establishing new, comprehensive design standards for street projects.
StudioCPG has focused efforts on the Green Infrastructure and Pedestrian Realm components of the guidelines. These include prioritizing trees in the right of way as the urban forest is a critical component of making city streets function not only as transportation conduits, but as places that support the health and safety of the community. Street trees are critical to establishing scale and transforming streets into memorable corridors and parkways.
